ITINERARY: Rio San Cristoal to Zoquipan
This
boat trip is 12 miles up the San Cristobal estuary. Your destination
is the shallow lagoon, Zoquipan, (an Aztec word from the Najuatl
language, meaning
"in the mud"). Here you can listen
to the orchestra of hundreds of wading birds. This estuary
system is less visited, so you will see numerous giant crocodiles
on the banks, unlike any other tour in San Blas. You will also
see other reptiles and numerous birds among the mangroves including
Roseate Spoonbills. 4-5 hours.
Guides
Your boat guide is very knowledgeable about the numerous bird
species in this habitat. This trip can also be taken with a
master bird guide or naturalist.
