ITINERARY: Zoquipan, "Paradise of Birds"

Zoquipan is an Aztec word from the Najuatl language, meaning "in the mud". The estuary system has been recently set aside as a protected area, so you will see numerous giant crocodiles on the banks, unlike any other tour in San Blas. You will also see other reptiles and numerous birds among the mangroves. Your destination is 12 miles up the secluded estuary, to a lagoon where you can listen to an orchestra of hundreds of birds wading in the shallow water. The Roseate Spoonbills are numerous. Your boat guide is very knowledgeable about the numerous bird species in this habitat. The trip can also be taken with a master bird guide/naturalist. 4-5 hours.
